Open position: Environmental Permitting Specialist

Location: Milan (MI) - Italy

We are looking for an environmental specialist to join the technical function “Engineering Services – Environment and Sustainability.”

The selected candidate will be involved in the design of civil infrastructure works (roads, motorways, and railways), focusing on activities aimed at obtaining the necessary permits for the construction and management of new projects or for making modifications to existing works that could have an impact on the environment.

Key Activities

The resource will be responsible for:

  • Identifying applicable environmental regulations for specific projects and evaluating potential environmental impacts;
  • Defining and framing the necessary authorization procedures to be undertaken based on the project type and interference with Planning and Constraint Systems;
  • Evaluating environmental impacts and drafting the technical documentation (reports and thematic maps) required to obtain environmental compatibility and related authorizations;
  • Developing designs and activities aimed at promoting and conserving biodiversity and environmental protection;
  • Interacting with competent environmental authorities, participating in service conferences, and managing communications related to the authorization process;
  • Supervising compliance with authorization requirements during the project’s conceptualisation, construction, and operation phases.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in technical scientific subjects
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in structured companies or consulting firms
  • Knowledge of Italian and international environmental legislation, including sector-specific regulations
  • Skill in drafting and analysing impact studies, technical reports and other technical documentation required for authorisation procedures
  • Familiarity with analysis software, impact simulation, GIS platforms and AutoCAD

Additional Requirements:

  • Registration with the Order of Architects/Engineers/Agronomists/Foresters or willingness to register;
  • Propensity for project teamwork;
  • Determination in achieving assigned objectives and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of the English language;
  • Willingness to travel throughout the national territory.
